You all know by now how much we love talking about ways to improve our lives. Yes, this is a marketing blog, but every once and awhile, we like to throw in some tips on how to better ourselves. Ultimately, this will better our work as well.
We came across an incredible article by John Rampton that lists out “8 tiny changes to make your life 10 times more enjoyable” that we had to share with all of you.
- “Reprogram your mind to stay positive.” You all know how much we value a positive mentality. Sometimes we get wrapped up in the negativity that surrounds us simply because it’s most people’s default to do so. Complaining is easy. Actively shifting our mindsets to a positive will go SO FAR. Little things can help you do this. List out the things you are grateful for and you will find you are grateful for more things. Surround yourself with positive people because that shit is contagious. Negative people have a way of bringing you down, while happy, positive people brighten everything up. So, wave goodbye to those negative thoughts and hello to a happier lifestyle.
- “Set your alarm half an hour earlier.” They say that more productive people riser earlier in the day. If you read our last blog on improving productivity, you would know that this isn’t the case for every person. With that being said, waking up 3o minutes earlier can actually do wonders for you. Maybe it gives you that little bit of extra time to meditate or to make a nice breakfast, or maybe it just gives you time to fully wake up before you start your day. Either way, it can be very helpful to let your brain start up before forcing it into productivity mode.
- “Clean up after yourself immediately.” Of course, this is every mother’s dream, right? Sometimes it is so easy to just leave things in a pile on your desk or bed or chair or wherever. Don’t let those little messes pile up and clutter your home and mind.
- “Don’t over-commit.” This is a really important one. When you try to pack too much into one day, you will just exhaust your energy, resources, and ultimately, your happiness. It is much easier to commit to the goals you’ve set and actually complete them if you keep them simple.
- “Don’t be so predictable.” Shake things up every once and awhile. We tend to get stuck in our routines, but that won’t do anything for our happiness. Break out of that comfort zone you hide behind and let loose now and again. It will do wonders for your emotional well being.
- “Swap complaining for expressing gratitude.” This goes hand in hand with maintaining a positive attitude. Complaining only ever brings you and those around you down. Try being grateful for all that you have and watch your spirits lift.
- “Stop comparing yourself to others.” This is so important we’re going to say it twice. Stop comparing yourself and the things you do to others. No one experiences life in the exact same way– that’s what makes us special. Live your life and let the negativity of trying to live up to someone else’s standard fade away. Einstein said, “Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” This is such a good quote to remember.
- “Tackle the one thing that you’ve been putting off.” Everyone has a list of things they want to do “someday.” Go do it. Seriously, what is holding you back? Don’t live your life in fear. Live your life with a free and happy spirit and you will see just how wonderfully simple life really is.
See how easy it is? Even when life seems too much to handle, there are little things we can do to drastically improve our situations.
