Magnetic MOnkey Marketing blog leadershipWith the year starting to wrap up and the pressure of closing out Q4 with a bang dawning, it’s time to discuss some helpful tips on motivating your team. This time of the fiscal year is what most would call crunch time, right? So how can we motivate employees to stay productive in the face of holiday season around the corner?

Entrepreneur.com details a few quality tips and tricks on just this very topic. We love the approach and want to share some thoughts.

  1. “Lead by example.” You can’t just give grand speeches about working hard and not back it up with proof. When your team watches you put in extra effort, they will rise to the occasion as well. They look to the executive leaders for guidance and leadership. Show them that you’re willing to put in the work and they will do the same.
  2. “Recognize great work.” Positive reinforcement really does work! When your team does great work, tell them so! Of course, you’re not expected to provide daily recognition when someone is simply doing their job, but when an employee goes above and beyond, make sure they see you recognize it. When someone truly feels valued as an employee, they will continue to work hard. However, when they start to feel undervalued, they are less likely to put in 100%.
  3. “Set realistic Q4 goals.” Setting goals is a great way to increase productivity and help manage time and progress. However, it’s important to set realistic goals that the team can achieve. Setting unrealistic goals can lead to feelings of defeat and then no one gets anything done. When you finish Q4 off strong, you’re setting yourselves up for a successful Q1.
  4. “Offer incentives.” Incentivizing work is always a great idea. You want to motivate your team on that final push? Offer bonuses or gifts for those who consistently meet quotas. With the holiday season around the corner, it’s a great way to get in the spirit and still motivate your team to do their best.

So, what do you think, leaders? Are you ready to help take your team into the new year?
