As you know from our last blog, user experience is absolutely everything. One negative experience – particularly on your website- and the person will never come back. If the user experience is trash, people will associate that with your brand, product, and/or service. And no one wants that! Everything is about emotional connection and without that, your consumer retention will not tank.

Let’s go into three tips by a great article, written by Gabriel Shaoolian.

  1. “Incorporate consistent branding.” People like consistency, so make sure your website has a cohesive look and feel across all the pages. This will ensure people can easily find the information they are looking for without distraction. This is vital! They need to know what to expect every step of the way and be able to navigate to it easily. You can do this by utilizing recognizable imagery, colors, and subtle branding.
  2. “Utilize clear calls to action.” People know what they want, but sometimes they just need a not-so-subtle push in the right direction. That’s what CTAs are for, of course! When you give clear, value-driven directions, your viewers can more easily (and are more likely to) take the actions you want. The value is the most important part here. So how do we make great CTA buttons? Here are a few tips! Make them easily viewable and fully clickable. Make sure to write concise copy that clearly explains what the action and value is for the user. And of course, make sure it stands out on your page. No one wants to hunt for the button.
  3. “Create for consumers — not designers.” At the end of the day, your website is for your customers and potential customers, NOT the designers. Make sure that every change implemented as a purpose for the consumer– that it improves the user experience. And of course, testing is important. Remember to A/B test new features to see if it resonates with your target demographic.

Investing in user experience design is ultimately like investing in your long term ROI. You should also consider managing your site speed and optimize for SEO. Your customer journey matters at every step of the way, from across devices and around your website.
